Sergei choose to forgo the daily lunch munch as he refuses to eat Mexican food from a strip mall. We disagree with Sergei and find his bias unfounded. At lunch time the place is crowded, noisy, and at first glance there appears to be a pretty long line to order and customize our meals. Although the line is long, we move through it quickly, and at first sight the food looks great! Qdoba also has a frequent diner program that rewards repeat customers with a free meal after purchasing ten, with no expiration. We choose to eat outside because the long line in the restaurant makes for the seating arrangements to be a bit cramped and noisy. Well, the line is long at Qdoba Mexican Grill for a reason.
The food met and even exceeded its aesthetic appeal. I ordered the nachos with pulled pork. The pork was tender and very flavorful, and the hot salsa was just hot enough, without drowning the other flavors. The King ordered a unique fusion dish that Qdoba aptly named Mexican Gumbo. The dish seems to be cross between a tortilla soup and a burrito bowl that you enjoy with a spoon. He ordered his with chicken, black beans, and Qdoba's hot salsa. Although he prefers a Chicken Caesar Wrap for lunch, he was very satisfied with the Mexican Gumbo and would order it again. The portions are large, and the prices are relatively low. That lands Qdoba Mexican Grill high on the value scale. Our meals were in the $6-$7 range.
Well done, Qdoba, well done.
Ole!

Little Daddy's - 29649 Northwestern Hwy, Southfield
The restaurant was packed, we were still seated within 3 minutes. The waitress may have been a bit crazy, but was definitely entertaining. Took our orders quickly. We ordered a Saganaki to split for starter. It arrived within 2 minutes...opa! Sergei prefers to avoid the taste of sterno in his food. Apparently I enjoy it. Waitress is a bit touchy feely, especially with Sergei, which would have been ok if she was very attractive. Restaurant is very clean. Our food came quickly and exceeded expectations. I ordered an open faced gyro, sans onions, primarily because this blog is only a part time gig. Sergei ordered his with onions because he's in IT and the quality of his breath doesn't really matter. Either way, the cucumber sauce is made in house and is out of this world...best in the city. Lots of garlic and very fresh. Gyro meat, sliced thick, high quality, tender and plentiful. The King ordered the Chicken Caesar Wrap. He gave it an 8 out of 10 compared to other Chicken Caesar Wraps in and around the city. The fries were well done and crispy. The King and I rate them very highly and Sergei gave them a low ranking because he's Canadian and would have preferred poutine. Check came on schedule. Amount of time to process left something to be desired. No pen.
Overall food is top notch for lunch. The restaurant was clean. It was a little pricey but the quality was definitely there. Worked out to about $11 per person. Should also probably mention that there are lunch specials available to bring the cost down. I would imagine the quality stays.
